Overview
- The Installgen application implements Oracle´s best practices
for over 100 tasks required when performing the installation of Oracle
8i/9i database servers. This graphical application generates dozens
of scripts, configuration files and documentation within a few seconds.
An external module allows site-specific customization of each generated
file.

Graphical
Interface - Installgen incorporates an efficient and consistent
graphical interface which runs on multiple OS platforms. The scripts
which are created by Installgen do not require a graphical interface,
and are designed to be executed by Perl or SQL*Plus.
Files
- Installgen creates 61 - 82 files in order to install, configure, backup
and document an Oracle database. This page provides descriptions of
the generated output files and links to sample files created by the
demo version of Installgen. Different sets of files are generated for
Oracle 9i installed on the Windows, Mac OS X and Solaris operating systems.
Resources
- The resource links on this page provide info about Oracle databases
and OS technologies. Many of these well-known resources are used during
the development of the scripts generated by Installgen in order to implement
best practices in an automated manner.
